Catholic Health has teamed up with the Long Island Music and Entertainment Hall of Fame (LIMEHOF) to launch an innovative program that seeks to harness the healing potential of music.
Dubbed “Health and Harmony,” this multifaceted initiative aims to engage, educate, and inspire the people of New York about the myriad positive effects of music on their health and well-being. Recently unveiled at the Catholic Health Amphitheater at Bald Hill, the program was introduced alongside the Pat Benatar/Taylor Dayne concert on July 23.
Developed in collaboration with certified music therapists from Catholic Health, Health and Harmony aims to use music as a powerful tool for promoting wellness. By offering new tools to discover inner calm, bolster motivation, and improve overall life satisfaction, the program seeks to demonstrate the scientifically-backed benefits of music on one’s health.
Patrick M. O’Shaughnessy, President and CEO of Catholic Health, expressed his enthusiasm for the venture, stating, “At Catholic Health, we firmly believe in the science that clearly shows music is good for you. A central feature of the program is its interactive website, healthandharmonyli.org. Visitors to the site can take a self-assessment that connects them with a personalized playlist based on their emotions and feelings. These playlists, featuring the works of LIMEHOF inductees, have been carefully curated to aid individuals dealing with various health issues. The website also offers a wealth of resources, including self-care tips, news, research, and upcoming events related to the therapeutic use of music.
